Today we celebrate rings! An abundance of rings is definitely a signature aesthetic for any old-school Goth, and I have long been obsessed with wearing at least six rings at any and all times. I used to spread them out across both hands, but these days the left hand is usually reserved for my engagement and wedding rings, which are more a part of me than an accessory and therefore deserve their own special hand. Lately, I’ve grown lazy and will only wear three or so unless I’m really dressing up, like for the clubs.
Above are a few of my favorites. The oval one (second from the right) is actually the first thing Mr. Kitty ever bought for me. On one of our very early dates, looking for something to do after dinner, he asked me if I had ever been to a certain little silver store in town and I exclaimed how that was one of my favorite shops! So we went and bought silver rings together, and like a true gentleman he paid for the one I picked out. The swirly square ring at the bottom of the photo is also from that shop, but I bought it much earlier. The rose ring is from a mall kiosk, and is too big for me. Thankfully, Wal-Mart sells little rubber tubes that go around the bottom of the ring to tighten them up a bit. Not ideal, but better than paying more to have the ring sized than the cost of the ring itself! I actually did that on the cross ring, because I love it so much and used to wear it daily (it was usurped by the aforementioned oval ring from Mr. Kitty).
Above is an example of my most heavily ring-clad look. The silver swirls are homemade from sterling silver wire. I don’t wear them often because one once went flying across the dance floor, causing me great embarrassment even though I’m pretty sure in retrospect that no one else even noticed. No, these never go to the clubs with me now. And they catch in my hair terribly, so they are reduced to non-clubbing, hair-up events exclusively. The one on my middle finger is my oldest ring. I’ve had it since high school. The ones on my ring finger and thumb are from Maya, a shop on Melrose Ave. that is loaded with amazing silver jewelry. The pinky ring is another one from our local silver shop. The little black stone fell out once, and I was fortunate to find it so I could epoxy it back in place. It hasn’t budged since.
These adorable little kittens from Bed, Bath and Beyond keep my favorites handy for me on my vanity table. Or they did, until we got Perseus, who throws everything on the floor if it’s not glued down. So currently, they keep my favorites handy in the closet. That will work until Perseus learns to operate the doorknob…

lol i could not wait and already posted mine a bit ago (and as i said i only have two rings... for now)
i also have two ring kitties but they are used as home decor instead of holding the rings.
you really have a pretty collection of rings and your hands look good wearing them :-O (esp. the one mr. kitty got for you!)
thanks for this months theme!
Your ring collection is so beautiful! I wish there was jewellery stores selling rings like these around. Its not easy to find rings in the jewellery stores that appeals to ones interest. Most of the rings I have bought in market places or in jewellery stores in the end of the 80's.
I love the interior details in your photos, that wooden box is beautiful.
Hi great blog...I love your rings...so much positve energy...My 2 rings are my fertility rings...the first on the left is sterling silver, amethyst and diamond chips...I wore that 16 years ago awaiting my gorgeous daughter...the one on the right is gold with garnets and I wore that 13 years ago awaithing my beautiful boy so they are very precious to me... Thanks for the opportunity to share...♥Chris
You have some very elegant rings! I really like those silver swirls, they are somehow quite unique when worn above the first joint. Though I can imagine they're a bit impractical, but stylish for sure!
Love the rings. And the gloves are beautiful. A few of my rings have gotten slightly big on me; I need to track down some of those inserts you mentioned.
What a sweet story about your first ring from your boo! I married an old-fashioned gentleman too and I couldn't be happier! Chivalry is NOT DEAD!
Lovely rings! And your photography skills are always lovely and creative. Love the presentation of you rings.
PS-Buying rings together=so romantically goth, I love it!
♥♥♥ Awesome, as usual. Hey, you have an above the joint ring too! WAHOO! Mine is so shoved on that it takes oil or soapy water to get it off. hehehehe .... :)
I love your rings and the stories that go with them. The rose is gorgeous. Thanks for the tip about the ring tubes. I'll look for those for my too-big rings.
I have a lot of rings but rarely wear more than one. I really should! Sometimes I don't wear any at all. I even got my wedding band tattooed on so if I forget to wear a ring, I still have one on.
You have very beautiful rings! I decided to participate first time to this monthly theme. Your blog is amazing!
You have a gorgeous collection! And I love those storage-kitties! Mine usually sit heaped on my nightstand or a tissue box when not on my hands, which really isn't pretty in the least.
I've never flung off a ring on a dance-floor, but I have had ill-fitted rings slip off my fingers in other places. Particularly traumatic, I lost the first ring O ever gave me in a playhouse parking lot, RIGHT NEXT TO a sewer grate. After twenty minutes of frantic hands-and-knees searching, I did find it, but that was that ring's last venture out-of-doors.
I like your collection of rings! I only have a few that really seem to match each other, so I always end up wearing the same ones. The kitty ring holders is a good idea, mine just get piled on a dresser with the rest of my jewelry, haha.
Beautiful collection of rings, I especially love the cross ring and those swirls.
Your last paragraph made me smile! I know exactly what it is like to wake up in the morning and see everything that can move or be moved laying on the ground...but drawers are totally kittyproof! ^^
Your ring collection is very beautiful and elegant.
I tend to go for giant and bizarre looking rings! ^_^
Beautiful rings. I use to only wear silver rings like those as well, back in my grunge days. Then I got into bling!
So glad I got to participate in this theme. Yay!
Your rings are beautiful! I especially like the one on your index finger-such an elegant swirling design. I'm bad about wearing rings, but this definitely makes me want to wear them more-and I love your ring kitties.
I love your rings! At the beginning of my school year I had a ring for each finger but over time they all...disappeared, including my favorite. I was quite sad, but I look forward to building up a collection in the future.
Such a fun theme! I used to have a silver rose ring just like the one in your picture (wish I knew what happened to it).
Aww I have always loved the way rings look. Unfortunately almost nowhere sells good rings - there seems to be a big jump between the cheap costume jewelry and the really expensive, with not a whole lot in between. Good for you on finding a nice shop!
I think I'm most astounded by the elegance and professionalism of your ring photoshoot than your rings, and that's saying a lot. I think I love that cross ring the best, actually. Never seen a cross look so good on a ring.
Why are there no gold rings? Is Le Professeur Gothique's surmise that silver seems to be a good goth color as it goes better with black actually accountable?
Terrific theme idea my dear.
Sooooo much silver~ and not an ounce too much, ahaha. I think I need a nice piece like you have to do hand shots [and then also fix my chipping manicure], mine were beginning to look weirder and weirder.
I find that I wear the majority of rings [for occasions like your monthly theme and such] on my left hand. The fingers on my right hand are very slightly swollen because of the extensive writing, so things that fit on my left hand are tighter on my right. [Although I suppose I could just get around that with picking a correct size, but I've actually never bought rings... wha...?]
Oh, and are the gloves new~? I love that purple in your nails, too. ^_^
Your rings are lovely! I linked up.
Such a lovely theme! I firmly believe that rings roughly make the half of any goth outfit (any good goth outfit, that's it).
I love your rings! And that nailpolish color too. :D
Your rings are great, and I love the photos pf them. Very well done! I like the rose ring the best.
I used to wear more rings, but only wear three small silver ones now.
I have the exact same silver rose ring! I know it's the same because of the little daggers on the side. I got mine at a Ren. fair and they said they found it in an old warehouse they were clearing. I always wondered if there were more of them. I wear mine on my left pinkie and it's one of my favorites.
I try to always wear three rings but that's sort of gone by the wayside recently because I can't wear rings to work. I have around 10 though.
I love your rings. Those kitten ring holders are great! This is my first time participating.
Your rings are gorgeous! Also, I like the photographs in this blog, and the "set dressing" with pretty Gothic things.
Wonderful as always! I love your nail varnish :-)
Thank you to everyone for the nice comments on this post, and for participating in the theme!!
Unlacing the Victorians raises an interesting question - why do Goths tend to wear silver, but not gold? I would say Le Professeur is right in that it just works better with all the black! To me, the combination feels like a black and white movie. Plus I think silver looks better with pale skin (not that all Goths have pale skin, so that reason just applies to me personally). And maybe it's a bit of rebellion, when I was growing up, *everyone* valued gold jewelry. Silver was harder to find, and white gold was extremely uncommon. So perhaps it's just another version of me subconsciously trying set myself apart from those I didn't understand.
